Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for questions to be raised about his future following another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period such as this with results this poor.”

He finished, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
